Steel isn’t soft. So why should its branding be?

When Jindal Steel Sohar (JSS) approached us, they weren’t looking for just another vendor to slap a logo on a hoarding. They wanted a design partner who could match their scale, vision, and global ambition and translate that into creative communication that actually cuts through.
Here’s how we helped JSS go from "just corporate" to compelling.
The Brief: Make steel human
JSS is one of the largest players in Oman’s steel industry. Their tech is cutting-edge, their plants massive, and their vision future-forward. But like most industrial giants, they were facing a branding wall: How do you make heavy industry feel engaging? How do you design steel to be strategic, sleek, and human?
Spoiler: You get Perky Owl involved.
Social Media: Let’s talk steel (Without sounding like a textbook)
Our first task? Rethink JSS’s social media language.
We went visual-first using:
Crisp, minimal layouts
Structural metaphors (think: rebars, grids, frameworks)
Creatives that told stories without overwhelming the viewer
Instead of generic corporate posts, we created visuals that:
Educated without jargon
Celebrated milestones without clichés
And made steel sound surprisingly relatable
Hoardings: Big, Bold, and Built to Last
For a brand built on strength, our hoarding designs echoed scale and clarity. We used:
Clean typography
Strategic whitespace
Sharp taglines that made JSS’s core values - safety, quality, innovation impossible to miss, even at 100 km/hr.
No crowding. No buzzwords. Just bold brand visibility where it mattered most.
Exhibitions: Turning stalls into experiences
JSS didn’t just show up at events, they stood tall.
We designed immersive stalls that:
Balanced form and function
Used the brand’s colour palette in high-impact ways
Included eco-friendly merch like planters, calendars, coasters, and tees, not just giveaways, but thoughtful brand touchpoints
Each zone in the stall was built with intent: product highlights, sustainability, future focus. And the overall vibe? Premium, clean, global.
Retail Store Branding: From iron to identity
In their retail presence too, we helped JSS reinforce trust and leadership.
Our visual language extended seamlessly across store elements:
Banners, displays, and digital signage
In-store communication that felt cohesive and aspirational
Space layouts that reflected strength, structure, and service

Even a customer walking in to buy steel bars could now feel the brand, not just transact with it.

Why This Worked
Steel is serious business. But serious doesn’t mean boring.
Our approach for JSS was built on:
Minimalism with meaning: No frills, just clarity
Strategic storytelling: What does steel do for people and progress?
Global aesthetic: Making JSS look as sharp as its ambitions
From Instagram posts to exhibition booths, every touchpoint was a part of a larger system. Strong, structured, and built to endure.
