Newsletter design that doesn’t cause information overload

Fun fact: When newsletters are designed well, people actually read them.
Let’s be honest. Most newsletters end up feeling like chores. Either too much text, too little story, or layouts that make you want to scroll past.
Here’s how Yellow Productions helped HDFC make financial content more engaging.
When HDFC Life’s sales team approached us for a fresh take on their newsletters, we saw an opportunity. A chance to turn their newsletter into a space that was actually engaging, informative, and easy on the eyes.
And we didn’t treat it like a quick and only-design job. We treated it like building a system that could work across editions, months, and teams.
One theme at a time. One clear story.
Each newsletter was anchored to a monthly theme. Whether it was “new beginnings” or “retirement readiness,” the theme became the glue that held the whole layout together.

We made sure that once you opened a newsletter, everything felt purposeful. Content was grouped smartly, colours were assigned by section, and design helped you get the point quicker.

The goal was to make each edition familiar but fresh.

Visual design that respects the reader
We knew this had to do more than look pretty. It had to support the message. Fonts were chosen for clarity, not flair. Icons were minimal and meaningful. Charts and infographics didn’t fight for attention, they flowed with the story.

The result?
Newsletters that felt light, easy to flip through, and well put together. Even when the content was complex.
